A first blog post entry in a very long while

Dear world,

Sometimes you want to record something important, and not be controlled by those who say (however kindly), “oh you can’t possibly say that here!”, or “wait until July before you offer an opinion!”

I don’t mean being gratuitously offensive, or mean-spirited or bigoted.  But the sound of eggshells being walked over can get tedious.  And it’s painful on the feet!

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free!

If the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed!

EV Thoughts: What I’ll miss

Having recently purchased a used Nissan LEAF Electric Vehicle (EV), a deep nostalgia for the smell of petrol came upon me unexpectedly.  Now that we only visit the filling station to put diesel into our ‘other car’, a big old Kia Sedona gas guzzler, I miss the weekly trip to Asda’s unmanned pumps – and that sharp-sweet smell of petrol glugging into the tank.

Somehow, the daily hook-up to the recharging cable from our garage at home, with its invisible trillions of electrons filling the LEAF’s battery isn’t quite the same.  Maybe EV manufacturers could add a fragrance so that recharging had an olfactory dimension?

A blog for retirement?

It sounds kind of final, “I’m now retired”.   Chartered Engineer, Physics Teacher, Retired.  Is that it?

Everything within me wants to say, “No, that isn’t it!  There’s loads more to life!”. The third age should be full of new things, an adventure – hopefully with some wisdom thrown in.

For me as a Physicist and a follower of Jesus, I see no conflict between the two. The Word of God and the Works of God both derive from one author.  Hence this site’s name, Big Bang Big Harmony – not Big Bang Big Crunch!

I aim to post science-related stuff, some theology and perhaps some amateur philosophy.  Welcome to the discussion.
